Key question is to what extend we need to go. Common debates include buy an on-shelf product or build a custom system? How the solution can evolve while business grows or business environment changes?<\/p>\n\n\n<p>With needs identified, we start looking into addressing them at a reasonable cost. Most of the time, it is true that \u201cyou get what you pay for\u201d. But that is true only when all info are made known and parties are able to make standard assessment based on the right info. We all should be able to maximize the value of what we paid for.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The way of doing business will be different post IT solution implementation. Re-defining or adjusting the process become a critical factor in transformation. Stay in old way of work will limit the performance of the solution, while total change of process to adapt to the solution is just like cutting your feet to fit shoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Business makes use of variant resources to succeed. The main resources are Products\/Services with their materials\/components; Parties include supplier, customers, staff and shareholders; Tools include\u00a0devices, information applications etc.. Well defined milestones make sure smooth progress and anticipated result. Criteria to determine achieving a milestone must be clear and measurable, and be formally agreed. However, realistic of business\u00a0<span>complexity always leads to criteria changing. Compromise\u00a0with tracking and compensation is an art of state in handling such situation.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<p>Small business hesitates to signoff a system mainly due to the reason that they are not confident with what they see in limited testing experience. The IT application delivered is a black box to them.\u00a0 Contrarily, a common problem observed is that the service provider is so focus on fixing the identified defect that they introduce new distortion into the original architect and design without awareness.<br><\/p>\n\n\n<p><span>Actual business outcome of IT investment happens after some\ntime using the new tool. Finding a way to make sure the solution in use delivers\nits business value is crucial.<\/span> Maintenance plan is a key component.
